In Loving Memory of Steven Agostino Negri

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Steven Agostino Negri, who passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2024, at the age of 59. After battling cancer with remarkable courage, Steven's pain and suffering were ended as he passed away surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Steven was born on May 27th, 1965, at Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue, Pennsylvania, to Barbara Romanowski Negri and Sestino Joe Negri. He grew up in Bellevue, where he made countless memories that would last a lifetime. A proud graduate of Northgate High School in 1983, Steven went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Duquesne University in 1991. His education was the cornerstone of his career, which spanned several roles in marketing and public relations before he found his true calling as the owner of Mandy’s Pizza.

Steven’s restaurant became a beloved fixture in Pittsburgh, with his most memorable locations being in West View and the North Side. A pioneer in offering gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free options, he made Mandy's Pizza one of the first in the area to cater to those with food allergies, a cause close to his heart as he sought to provide safe dining options for his son, Brandon. Over the years, Steven not only grew his business but also gained lifelong friends and colleagues who admired his creativity, humor, and generosity.

Steven was also a proud veteran of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, serving in the 112th Security Police Flight during The Gulf War: Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield in 1990-1991. His service to his country was a testament to his character—always ready to step up and protect others.

In 1996, Steven married Veronica Negri. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two wonderful children: Alyssa (Henry) Litwin and Brandon Negri of Sewickley, PA. Over the years, Steven also became a doting "dog grandfather" to his beloved pets—Max, Ruby, Winnie (his “soul dog”), and Hank.

Outside of his professional and family life, Steven was a man of many passions. He was an ever-present presence at hockey games, where he coached and mentored Brandon through numerous teams. Steven also could be found cheering on Alyssa at her dance recitals and competitions over the years. When at home, he enjoyed spending time in his workshop, where he built everything from home improvement projects to the “Negri Kids Klubhouse” in his backyard—a sanctuary for his children filled with memories of laughter and love. His passion for dogs never wavered, and he often spoke of his dream to one day open a rescue ranch for fostering dogs.

Later in life, Steven found a second family in the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Chapter 22-13, where he earned the biker-names “Big Papa” (given to him by his daughter) and “Gator” (after a memorable incident riding his motorcycle into a swamp). He held the position of Public Relations & Webmaster Officer, forging strong bonds with his fellow veterans and sharing in camaraderie, adventure, and service to others. His wit and humor—often dry, always sharp—left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Steven’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He is survived by his wife Veronica, children Alyssa (Henry) and Brandon, a host of friends, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, humor, and service.

A memorial service to celebrate Steven's life will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017 on Monday, December 23rd at 1:30 PM. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CEMETERY.

A wake luncheon will be held at Ohio Township Park Nature Center, 325 Nicholson Rd, Sewickley, PA 15143 following the service at the cemetery.

As we say goodbye to Steven, we take comfort in the words from John 14:27:
"I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid."

Although death has taken you from our sight, Steven, your laughter and legacy will echo in our hearts forever.
