On Thursday, February 1, 2024, Patrick passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

A lifetime resident of Pittsburgh North Side's Perry North neighborhood, Patrick was a member of Annunciation Parish and a 1972 graduate of Perry High School. A member of SEIU, Pat was a Stationary Engineer and Maintenance Mechanic employed for 38 years by Carlow University.

Preceded in death by his parents, Francis Patrick O'Connell and Alice (McBride) O'Connell, his brother Joseph Michael O'Connell and godson Michael Francis O'Connell. Pat will be missed by his sisters, Maureen Gallagher (the late Aloysius), Mary Pat Merante (Tony) and his brothers Lawrence Andrew (Mary Ellen) and James Francis (Sue) O'Connell. He will also be missed by his eleven nieces and nephews, cousins both here and in Ireland. His family will remember the kindness of his friends. Pat will be buried next to his brother Joe at North Side Catholic Cemetery.
