Obituary For James Mullin

James Mullin, 78, passed away on Sunday, June 23. Jim was a proud North Side Pittsburgh native and resident of Flagler Beach, Florida. He was a truck driver at the H.J. Heinz Co. for over 30 years, a Teamsters Union Local 249 Trustee, and member the Knights of Equity, Ancient Order of Hibernians and Clan na Gael.

Jim was named Grand Marshal of the 2001 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in recognition of his lifetime dedication to the Pittsburgh Irish and labor communities, as well as his support and contributions to Irish organizations and others, including the Shriners, Vietnam Veterans, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He also received a number of awards from the Knights of Equity, and was named 1990 Irishman of the Year by Iron City Brewing.

Jim and his wife Kim owned and operated Mullin’s Pub, which later became Mullin’s Diner, on the North Side for over 30 years, and formed friendships and lasting relationships with many of their customers. He was an avid golfer and continued golfing with his buddies in Flagler Beach after retirement.

Proud, devoted, loving and supportive husband to his wife of 55 years Kim. Loving father and friend to his daughter Jamie and son Dan (Sarah). Preceded in death by his daughter Beth and son Jimmy. Dedicated and adoring gramps to Courtney and Maggie, and great-granddaughters Hayden and Layla. Son of the late Pete and Betty Mullin. Loving brother to Pat, Judy, Mary Kay, and the late Michael and Daniel (Jumbo) Mullin. Cherished and lifelong friend to many. Jim will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for his generous heart, big personality, and humor.

Friends are welcome to stop by to celebrate Jim’s life at a wake on Tuesday, July 2nd, at Sieb’s Pub & Restaurant, 3382 Babcock Blvd., 15237, from 4-8 PM.

We are forever grateful for you, Dad. Everybody’s thinking of you.
